How does RepCount select target weights and reps?

When tracking a workout and adding an exercise, RepCount will default to show weights and reps from the previous session that exercise was performed, but if you plan your workouts using Routines, or if you repeat workouts, you have more options.

Routine

The "Weight and Reps" option (Targets on Android) allow you to specify from where RepCount should fetch the target weight and reps (the gray placeholder values) that will be used for your workout. For routines there are two options:

1: Latest

When "Latest" is selected. The target weight and reps will always be fetched from the last time you performed that particular exercise. This is the default option.

2: By Routine

When "Routine" is selected. The target weight and reps will be fetched from the last time you performed that particular routine. This is useful if you are doing multiple workouts for the same exercise in a week. For example. Let's say you have performed one heavy bench day and one light bench day. The next time you perform the heavy day you would probably want to beat your previous heavy day even though the light bench day was the last time you benched.

Routines and targets are up for a redesign as RepCount will get more advanced planning features and more control over the selected target weights and reps. Have feedback on how you would want this to work? Feel free to reach out at feedback@repcountapp.com

Repeated workouts

When repeating workouts you can chose either to use the weights from the previous exercise performance, which is the default option or you can opt to use get the exact weights and reps from the repeated workout. These options are presented to you when repeating a workout.
